Your Coach – Deb

Hi ,

I am Deb Drinkwater, founder of Purple Bee Coaching .   Before you embark on a journey of self discovery with me, allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a qualified Life coach with a Diploma in Performance Coaching with NLP and together with my Youth & Community BA (Hons) I have developed a passion for strength based approaches which maximise the potential of those I work with .

I am also a Trainer who has a CIPD Certificate in Practice and  an experienced Addictions Practitioner with over 25 years working with individuals and family members affected by alcohol and other drugs.

With a vast amount of experience in supporting people to make positive changes in their lives I have also undergone my own journey of recovery. Back in 2006 I recognised what a detrimental affect alcohol was having on my mental health and I made the life changing decision to  become abstinent from alcohol and all other mind altering substances. Working in the field of addiction this was not an easy decision to make.  I felt as if my decision to abstain shone a spotlight on my personal defects and for a while internal self stigma filled me with shame. However , through the help of a strong peer support group, I began to see that my recovery was nothing to be ashamed of and was, in fact something to be very proud of.

My personal journey has strengthened my belief that once we overcome our fears,  change brings hope and opportunity . It has also instilled in me strong values relating to acceptance unity and connection . These are the personal attributes I bring to every coaching session as I work with you to identify your goals and uncover your true potential to build the life you truly want for yourself.

De26168964_10215058566318329_7608401943959145276_nbbie’s coaching was really helpful as a busy social worker I rarely take time to stop and evaluate my own life both personally and professionally. Debbie helped me to consider my goals and develop thoughts and actions to implement them. She was able to listen and understand and she was able to give me direction when I was struggling to find a solution myself.

During each session Debs always made me feel incredibly at ease and allowed me time to talk while she listened, and I looked forward to each session we had!

The goals that Debs enabled me to come up with focused on improving my confidence in order that I could find employment as a social worker in my chosen area. She encouraged me to focus on my ‘dream job’ and not to settle for something less than I want, and following my final session I attended an interview and was offered the post! Debs used activities that enabled me to realise my potential and that encouraged me to have confidence in my role.
I am now working in my ‘dream job’ and I  feel this is because of Debs’ Life Coaching sessions and the potential that she unleashed in me. Debs has said that I did all the hard work in fulfilling my goals but without her Life Coaching sessions I would not have been able to realise my potential and may well have lacked the confidence to believe I was capable of carrying out the role for which I applied.
